Can't Make It?

Can't make it to weekly rehearsals but still want to perform with us? Here's your chance! 

​

If you're unable to regularly attend Tuesday rehearsals, you may still be able to perform with the band through independent practice, provided you have access to your own instrument. There are also other ways to participate, like our vocal ensemble and jazz combos! In addition, there are also opportunities for solo/duets/small group performances at our concerts!

Instruments Needed!

All instruments and skill-levels welcome, but below are the instruments that we are currently looking for. If you can play any of them (or any instrument at all!), please consider joining us!

  • Bass (Electric or Upright)

  • Trombone

Why Our Members Joined!

Iris Wang: "I joined the band because I grew up playing the piano for so long and wanted to get involved and not abandon my hobby for the piano in uni."

Yiding Guo: "I joined UBC Band because I wanted to meet new people while casually playing music! I play the cello and I sing :)"

Daniel Deng: "I joined the band because I've always played musical instruments on the side with friends and stuff, but I've never been a part of a large concert band. So I wanted to join a larger band which is why I joined this club!"

Meet Our Founders!

Catherine Du: Catherine is a fifth-year student majoring in Natural Resources Conservation in the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Stewardship. Having previously auditioned multiple times for the UBC School of Music ensembles, she decided to take matters into her own hands and start this ensemble so all people, regardless of their skill level can join.

Lilias Edwards: Lilias is a first-year student in the Faculty of Science, hoping to major in Biochemistry. She founded the band to create a space where everyone felt comfortable playing together, no matter their level. She also wanted to continue playing the oboe past high school and share music with the community!
